Badger

Hard rock from Rossendale, East Lancashire · Still going

Since 1979

Badger came together in Rossendale at the turn of the 1980s and have been playing the pubs, clubs and function rooms of East Lancashire ever since — with a few gaps, a change or two of line-up, and an alarming number of drummers.

In 1983 the band recorded “The Traveller” for a compilation album called Metal Plated, released on Ebony Records of Hull, and picked up reviews in France and Italy from people who had never been anywhere near Rawtenstall.

Forty-odd years on, they’re still gigging.

The archive

It’s in somebody’s loft

We’re pulling together everything from the last four decades — photographs, video, posters, tickets, the lot — ahead of the band’s 50th anniversary. Some of it we’ve got. A lot of it we haven’t.

Metal Plated

One track, one weekend in Hull, £250 of their own money. It is still the reason people in France and Sweden know the name.
